Protect Your Hearing Aids With A Hearing Aid Dryer

A hearing aid dryer can save your precious hearing aids. Anyone who has suffered from any level of hearing loss and has used hearing aids to restore much of their lost hearing will certainly prize their hearing devices. They will also be aware that these instruments are in most cases very expensive and delicate and require care and maintenance to keep them operating trouble free.

Batteries need to be replaced at regular intervals and the instruments must be kept clean and free from moisture. Any electronic device will suffer greatly if it is exposed for any length of time to moisture of any kind. Fortunately there are devices which will help to keep your hearing aids free of moisture, ear wax and even bacteria.

These are simple devices which range in price from about $50.00 to $100.00. They are very simple to use. Their small size makes them ideal for traveling. Basically a hearing aid dryer operates by blowing warm air across the hearing aids which drives any existing moisture from inside the aids to the surface where it is evaporated.

Some models such as the Zephyr Travel Hearing Aid Dryer require a disposable desiccant block which absorbs the moisture. These desiccant blocks will last up to two months once opened and if left sealed will last for up to a year ready for use as needed. Most units are operated by AC and need only to be plugged into an electrical outlet to operate.

Other models like the The Serene Renew Hearing Aid Dryer and Freshener do not require a desiccant block and uses gentle dry heat to remove moisture and condensation. This unit also has a built in powerful UV light which inhibits bacteria growth which can cause itchy ears. This unit will hold up to two pairs of hearing aids or cochlear implant processors. I also has a built in battery tester which can determine the strength of your batteries and keep you from throwing good batteries too soon.

For hearing aids that can cause many hundreds or more likely thousands of dollars using a good hearing aid dryer can be a wise investment. Not only can it save your hearing device from premature failure but will protect you from losing the benefit of restored hearing while replacement hearing aids are purchased.
